I don’t know why, but green flying manta rays in the new Wii Mario kinda weirded me out. They looked out of place in the Mario world I grew up with I guess. I do have to say that new 4 player action looks really fun. I guess I’m probably going to get the game. ; D

This idea came to me within seconds of seeing VeXtreme’s contest on his deviant page. With less than an hour to get my idea down on paper, I managed to scribble it with enough detail that everyone can almost tell what is going on!

The basic rundown is Vex gets swallowed by a frog, he kicks her and then the artists got lazy. So, they held this contest offering to pay for a deviant art premium account for a year (which would be pretty nice). You also get to make the two artists draw something. I can draw anything I need to draw so I’m less than worried about it.

Also, anyone who isn’t a 90’s child won’t understand what on earth the Magic School Bus is. I suggest you Youtube it and find out.

So one of the later entries in the Snowbuni contest amused me quite a bit so I decided to do a “pinup” version of it for myself. William Haskell inspired me with his entry here.

During a Black Temple pick up group (PUG), I kept pulling aggro off the tank when I’d start trying to do some DPS. Zuran, a shadow priest in Might (Turalyon) at the time, commented about how he’d die when he pulled aggro just from using his damage over time (DoT) spells. That moment in guild chat inspired this comic.

This comic was made for the World of Warcraft comic contest they hold each month.

I’m not very familiar with Star Trek and I’d be lying if I claimed otherwise. This comic was a submission for Jeffrey H Wood’s “Ode to Star Trek QUICKIE Contest”. The goal was to create a comic based around two characters from his webcomic, Snowbuni, and incorporate Star Trek into it. For those unaware, Snowbuni is a female alien with rabbit like-features that engages in many fun filled adventures.

My idea was to take the Star Trek phrase “To boldly go where no man has gone before” and twist it a bit in a way they probably weren’t expecting. Originally the concept sketch was much more graphic and had Snowbuni being sexually violated by Rosa Leporvore. I then proceeded to read the rules and learned that it must be PG and removed the hentai element of the piece. As you can see, the image still hints at it but no longer contains anything graphic in it. ; D

I didn’t win but here are the judges comments on my work:

Judge 01 :

Nintendobratkat – Here’s a very strong entry from an artist who has studied Jeff’s figure designs. While not as stylized, this Snowbuni is every bit as appealing. The phaser and costume are thoroughly Next Gen (who am I to draw the line at the thong?), and the plant monster is delightfully designed. The caption was apropos and made me laugh. If I were looking at this with a thoroughly critical eye, I might say that the placement of that one tentacle near Snowbuni’s crotch puts the pinup a little out of PG territory, and her bent leg looks like it could be broken, but those are pretty minor quibbles.

I present this entry the Nurse Chapel award for putting our heroine in her most dangerous position.

Judge 02 :

Alesia Parr: From tribbles to tentacles, Alesia’s SnowBuni is fending off the attentions of unwanted attention. Layout is good – SnowBuni being counter-balanced by the form of the tentacled creature.
